TGI Friday's

The sign for the Clifton Park location is seen in this file photo. It is one of the chain's remaining locations in the region.

TGI Friday's in Stuyvesant Plaza was among at least 36 of the chain's closures nationwide this week, but other Capital Region locations of the restaurant in Clifton Park and in Saratoga Springs remain open.

The chain restaurant, well-known for its potato skins, closed the TGI Friday's locations Tuesday. As first reported by ABC News10, the location in Stuyvesant Plaza was among the casualties.

According to statements that have circulated on social media from TGI Friday's U.S. President and Chief Operating Officer Ray Risley the brand closed 36 “underperforming” locations in select markets across the United States. Risley also stated that as part of the closure, TGI Friday's is offering more than 1,000 transfer opportunities, which he said represent over 80% of the total impacted employees.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Capital Region's two other TGI Friday's locations in Clifton Park and in Saratoga Springs remain open.
