WILTON — Scene One Entertainment, formerly Bow Tie Cinemas, will reopen the Wilton Mall Cinemas, the company announced Tuesday.

The move means the company will again have two theaters locally, the other on State Street in downtown Schenectady.

“We’re thrilled to add the Wilton Mall Cinemas back to the family,” said Joe Masher, owner and CEO of Scene One, said in a statement. “It first opened on my birthday in 2013, so this one holds a special meaning for me. The theater is in fantastic shape and the mall has maintained it beautifully since its pandemic closure. The developments happening around the mall are encouraging.”

The cinemas will have eight screens, including one large-format auditorium with a 2,000-square-foot screen and enhanced Dolby Digital surround sound, according to a press release. All of the rooms will have leather rocking chairs, wall-to-wall screens and Dolby Digital surround sound.

The theater will also offer fresh popcorn with real butter and other food items such as chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks and hot pretzels, Mosher said in the release. It will also have a private party room people can book for events.

“We are pleased to have Scene One Cinemas at Wilton Mall, offering movie screenings along with a unique, premier entertainment experience encompassing comedy, music and other live events,” said Wilton Mall General Manager Mike Shaffer in the release. “Scene One Cinemas fulfills one of the most-requested uses from guests and brings the former theater space in the Food Court back to life. It’s just one more element in our ongoing, thoughtful redevelopment that makes Wilton Mall a great place for people to live, work and play.”

Scene One is hoping to open the cinemas in February.

In early November, Bow Tie Management, the operating company for BTM Cinemas — formerly Bow Tie Cinemas, was rebranded as Scene One Entertainment.

The company operates nine theaters, including Schenectady’s Movieland theater. It also has plans for additional theaters in state, as well as in Connecticut and Texas.

The company, which announced in November that it was relocating its headquarters to Schenectady, also acquired Huck Finn’s Playland, an amusement park operating in Albany.
