The band The Head and the Heart

The Head and the Heart, which plays The Egg on Thursday.

The Capital Region’s music scene is perpetually busy.

Whether it’s a stadium show at MVP Arena, a concert at SPAC or an intimate show at Caffe Lena, there’s always a band to see.

Here are a few shows coming up that are among our best bets.

Thursday

  1. The Head and the Heart heads to The Egg on Thursday with its latest album “Every Shade of Blue.” The Seattle-based indie-folk band is known for “Down in the Valley” and “Lost in My Mind.” On Thursday, it’ll be joined by Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors. The show starts at 8 p.m. For more information, visit theegg.org.
  2. Galway-native Angelina Valente is set to deliver new tunes at the Cock ‘n Bull Thursday night. The singer-songwriter’s latest album — “Sing”— is a mix of genres and moods, including acoustic, rock and bluegrass. Released on Friday, it tracks some of the care-free days of Valente’s life to some of the most challenging. Jimi W. opens the show at 6:30 p.m. and Valente goes on at 7 p.m. For more information, visit thecocknbull.com.

Friday

  1. Local rockers Wild Adriatic return to Putnam Place Friday after a two-year hiatus. The band — Travis Gray (guitar/vocals), Rich Derbyshire (bass/vocals) and Mateo Vosganian (drums) — will bring new music to the stage. It’s the only show the band plans to play in 2023. Chestnut Grove, a popular Pennsylvania quintet, joins the bill shortly after announcing a farewell tour. Precious Metals will also perform. The show starts at 9 p.m. For more information, visit putnamplace.com.
  2. The Brooklyn Nomads will bring a mix of reinterpreted Arab folk tunes to Proctors’ GE Theatre Friday as part of the Music Haven Passport Series. The ensemble has performed at The Kennedy Center, TED, Le Poisson Rouge and others. Interpreting Arab folk music through cultural and musical backgrounds as diverse as Brooklyn itself, The Nomads put a multicultural spin on a traditional Arabic repertoire. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. For more information, visit proctors.org.

Saturday

In celebration of Joni Mitchell’s 80th birthday, Caffe Lena is honoring the singer/songwriter with a tribute show featuring local artists. The sold-out “Both Sides Now: Songs of Joni Mitchell” show is also available to livestream and starts at 8 p.m.
